It’s City Council day!
That means your city councillors are busy discussing important issues that directly (and sometimes nearly immediately) affect your life in the city.
On the list of big issues before summer break is the Scona Pool closure and the City Centre Airport closure. (Do we want to keep anything open anymore?)
You don’t have to head down to City Hall to find out what’s happening, you can listen and watch live, thanks to streaming audio of the meeting.
And it’s almost guaranteed safe for work. I mean, somebody could always go off…
I heard Jeff (and Mac) on CBC this morning – guys like you should seriously consider
seeking public office. I was expecting some real council bashing “didn’t go far enough…council is out of touch” …that kind of talk. How informed and impressive you guys were in your comments. Of course you were right in saying that a gradual closure of the airport is the necessary route to take. I know that you favoured the closure and obviously came to that decision based on extensive research but, and this is the part that really hit home, I did not hear one bit of superiority in your comments. Thanks for offering basic insight into issues such as this airport closure.
Will be reading and watching.

Thanks very much Lainie!
I think the level of discourse online has been at a high level and would probably surprise those not plugged in. The information available is plentiful and really informed the debate.
It’s not just a bunch of kids making fart jokes. (I’m not saying that doesn’t happen…)
Mack’s really been out in front on this issue, check out his website (http://mastermaq.ca) and the one he started about this debate (http://notmyairport.ca) because the latter has multiple links to info and opinion and is a great example of how easy it is to read up on a topic if people are involved online.
