Let’s do this thing: Morning Headlines

I hear those smiling goats live on the 20th floor.

I hear those smiling goats live on the 20th floor.

Let me set aside the top news stories of the day for a moment and get real with you. Can we do that? Sure, we’re good friends by now.

At first, I was unsure how the headlines would go over. I read a bunch of newspapers every day (for my day job) and I’ve got a background in news, so keeping tabs on stories isn’t new. Sometimes I assume everyone else does the same thing.

But you don’t, do you? You have work and school and lives and can’t read a bunch of newspapers and watch TV news and listen to the radio (or check everyone’s websites) every day. Heck, I don’t do it all the time either.

After doing the headlines for a while I was sort of annoyed with getting up earlier to do them. Then, on our week off, I found myself wondering what was happening in the city. I missed keeping up to date.

Basically, I hope this helps you keep up to date. Now, let’s stop with the psycho-babble and do this thing. (And there are plenty of stories today!)

from the Edmonton Journal:

Youth home to shut down (This is Bosco, in Strathcona County.)

Three charges in Edmonton human trafficking case

Activist provides a voice for the voiceless (Edmonton’s newest writer-in-exile.)

Victoria School stages renewal

Norquest gets $1.4M grant (Why not? Most other schools are getting grants…)

Firm charged for pipeline leak

from the Edmonton Sun:

New software puts transit info at your fingertips (Yay! Now, how about ETS develops this for not-iPhones?)

Second cop chopper means 400-500 more flying hours

from CTV Edmonton:

Safety concerns over convicted cop killer being released

Public display labels west-end home as drug operation

Also, a question to City TV Edmonton; what’s up with you using Metro Edmonton for news coverage on the website? (New information: Turns out Metro gives City TV their copy and gets video for their website in return.)

I’m on my game today. That means I didn’t miss jack for top stories.
