Saturday saw an interesting event in Edmonton. A timeraiser.
What’s a timeraiser? Glad you asked.
Edmonton is already known across the country for its volunteer spirit. Plenty of people give plenty of time to everything from soup kitchens and hospitals to arts foundations and community leagues. The Timeraiser was building on that.
The event offered people a varied selection of art in a silent auction. The difference was their money was no good at the TransAlta Arts Barns. They had to bid on the art with their time; an offer of volunteer hours.
With a goal of raising 4,000 hours, bidding began at 25 volunteer hours, to a maximum of 125 hours.
Edmontonians out for the event offered more than 4,100 hours to the 21 organizations in attendance.
Way to go, Edmonton!
