February 3 Headlines

It’s a big day, Edmonton.

Wednesday AM: Could it really be?

Maybe.

Keep your eyes peeled for Commerce Place to finally (Finally!) open up their long-broken door. I’m pretty sure it hasn’t been open since late 2008, possibly early 2009.Sally was scouting the door last night and found it open on the interior. Then it was closed later in the evening.

Today Sally was sick (Coincidence, or did she know too much?) and I did the recon-work. This morning, the interior was again open (And the doors looked, well, like plain doors. I was expecting solid gold.) but the outside was still boarded up.

They might just be playing with out hearts, but I’m holding out hope this is the real deal. It would be nice for our city’s signature street, as boarded up doors don’t make for great impressions to visitors.

They could be fire hazards too, but I’m not they guy working in the building so I don’t have to worry about it.

Oh look, there’s actual news too.

from the Edmonton Journal:

Bunch of museums under one roof (A proposal for the City Centre Airport.)

Wildrose Alliance accuses Alberta speaker of partisanship (These guys, and the NDP, know they are being giving some special status because they aren’t actually recognized parties in the legislature without 4 seats, right?)

The outside is still boarded up. But I can *feel* things changing.

Alley closing could lead to highrise project
