It’s Sunny…go, go, go!
Yes, that blue stuff is called sky. It’s been a week or so since we saw it and it’s glorious.
Nobody will be happier to see thesun return than those who have been out in the rain (and mosquitoes) at the Edmonton International Street Performers Festival. It’s been going all week at Churchill Square, rain or shine. Now is the time for those of us fairweather festival goers to head on down and catch musicians, face painters, actors, magicians, human knots, comedians, jugglers and acrobats.
The Street Performers Festival runs through Sunday. And Friday and Saturday nights have special “late night madness” shows at the Stanley A. Milner Library.

You know, speaking of sunny skies and things to do, it is Thursday. And Thursdays in the summer meanĀ Latitude 53′s Summer Rooftop Patio Series. Tonight is a partnership with M.A.D.E and food from Elm Cafe. Thursday night hasn’t had it so good.
Rooftoppin’
I know there’s a storm a’ coming, but it’s still a good day to mention Latitude 53′s annual summer fundraisers. The Summer Rooftop Patio Series is back on Thursdays through the summer.
At 5pm, you can pop over to Latitude 53′s 106 Street location and enjoy art, fine nibblies, a beverage, and good company. Pretty nice Thursday, that.
Each week has a different sponsor and different artists. Tonight, for example, is Latitude 53 teaming up with interVivos to bring some festival atmosphere to the patio, with art from Jana Hargarten. Food this Thursday will be from the Blue Plate Diner (food also changes through the summer).
One of the best parts of summer is patios. Rooftop patios are better by a bunch.
Watch the Latitude 53 blog for updates on who’s on the roof each Thursday.
A patio sounds nice right about now
It’s a good thing Latitude 53 has their Summer Rooftop Patio Series
then.
We talked about the Thursday night patio parties when things got going back in June, but things are coming to an end.
Tonight is but the second-last chance for you to enjoy summer from Latitude 53′s downtown patio. Next week is the last.
This evening’s guests hosts are the Latitude 53 board of directors and artist Gerry Dotto.
It’s nice and hot outside, so enjoy summer while you can. And take in some art while you’re at it.
Rooftop it up
I think we can all agree Edmonton’s summer is short. And I think we can all agree that rooftop patios are the bomb. The. Bomb.
Tonight sees the return of Latitude 53′s “Rooftop Patio Series,” which will be every Thursday until August 12. That’s a lot of Thursdays and a lot of patio. It’s also a fundraiser for them.
It’s almost the weekend so why not dip into some cocktails, grab a few snacks, and take in the art installations.
And Thursdays at Latitude 53 will have different guest-hosts. So you’ll meet people connected to their National Portrait Gallery, CJSR, Weird Canada, the Global Visions Film Festival, M.A.D.E. in Edmonton and more.
July 21-August 14 will also see art shows kick-off on the roof, from Scott Smallwood, Marc Siegner, Gerry Dotto and Elaine Wannechko.
So, it’s Thursday, it’s after 5pm, I hope you’re reading this from your phone on the rooftop patio of Latitude 53.
Latitude 53′s Rooftop Patio Series
In our relentless efforts to keep you people entertained, Jeff and I have essentially become shackled to our computers, missing out on fun summertime activities left and right. YOU’RE WELCOME, INTERNETS.
That would be why we were absent from yet another of Latitude 53‘s fabulous patio parties. From 5 – 9 p.m. on Thursdays, they host these swank gatherings for anyone (anyone over 18, that is) who wants to enjoy the summer weather – and last night was no exception.
